It's a good tripod / monopod, but not amazing
Don't get me wrong, it does what it says on the tin. And it does it relatively well. However, go make it into a monopod involves more steps than I'm happy with, it should be simpler. Also, with regards to sturdiness - I use it as a tripod to copy negatives. Now, I know well enough that using a tripod isn't a good idea in the first place, you should use a copy stand. However, to alleviate the fact that I don't have a copy stand I use the tripod, and use the hook under the centre column to hang some weights to make it sturdy. The thing is that it doesn't handle that very well, it's almost like it becomes springy if you get my drift. So I had to remove weight until I was left with about 2 - 3 Kg, not much at all.For 'normal' use it does the job nicely.Would I buy it again? No, unfortunately not. I would spend the extra money to get a carbon one, no doubt.
