If you don't want to be dependent on the cloud, you can configure a private address on the camera and access the camera by port forwarding your home routers or via DNS without going through the cloud. Of course, if you only want to use this method, you need to disable P2P. The cam has motion detection that can be activated on different windows with different sensitivities.
