1/8th power provides a nice subtle spread to your footage. It helps bring out your shadows slightly while maintaining some contrast and provides a subtle bloom to the highlights. I would just put it up there with the Tiffen Black Pro Mist filter.

I ordered the 55mm Black Soft Diffusion 1/8 Effects Filter to use with my Nikon D5600. I am a novice user but I appreciate the effects of this filter, especially in broad daylight. The effect is subtle but effective. There is beautiful flowering and minimal color change. No loss of image quality was observed. The filter threads make it easy to screw onto my camera lens. Well packed. Useful filter to have on hand for a variety of settings.

I used it with my Fuji XF 16-80 lens. I love the soft, smoky effect of the filter, especially the soft glow around the lights. If you're looking for something to give a film noir look to your photos and videos, this is a good option. Performance is consistent at all focal lengths from 16mm to 80mm; 24mm equivalent focal lengths at 120m. Recommended.

I really like this filter, it works well and softens the camera image to make it look a little nicer at least in my opinion. 1/8 is also great for all types of lighting and doesn't give as much artifacting when pointed directly at the light source.

I can't believe I've never heard of it. Adds a subtle but great effect to your videos/photos - might even have a slightly stronger effect next time - really useful for all videographers as it takes away a bit of the contrast/clarity of modern digital images...

Excellent filter, gives highlights a more natural feel, especially when used with digital cameras. It's not a magic button that makes the highlights play like a movie, but it certainly helps in a lot of scenarios.

Got this for my X100F. The filter gives my photographs a natural film look that I can't achieve in Photoshop, which is exactly what I was looking for. The 1/8th was perfect for me because I wanted a very subtle but noticeable change.
