K&F are my go to for filters. This one is built well and feels sturdy.

Over 40 years of shooting I have used a ton of different filters. K&F seems to be a good budget line of filters. Do they rank up there with the really expensive filters? No! However, for someone who cant afford the top of the heap, K&F filters do a good job. Glass is pretty clear and their filters can take a bit of abuse and still be good. This filter produces a very nice effect on the images. A good deal if you are on a budget.

I already own, love, and frequently use the 1/4 strength version of this filter, so I'm glad to get the 1/8 strength as well so I have a slightly more subtle option to use when shooting video.
I also own a set of expensive name brand Black Pro Mist filters, and I consider these to be perfectly on-par with those and would not hesitate to reach for them first on important/critical shoots.
I've had clients and subjects complain that my camera "picks up every little wrinkle" and filters like these can really help smooth things out just a bit, in a way that's not over-the-top.
Prospective buyers and those new to using diffusion filters in general should note that 1/8 is generally the least strong option in terms of effect, and that the effect you see will vary heavily depending on the source, nature and qualities of your light source.
A 1/8 strength filter such as this one can have range from having a noticeable, yet subtle effect, to having no noticeable effect at all, depending on the above factors. It's also often hard to see the full effect on a small screen/viewfinder. So be sure to practice and test with these before using them on an important project, so you're not surprised once you see things on a big screen.

High quality filter from a trusted brand. Subtle smoothing of skin tones and slight highlight bloom.
When you're looking for just a touch of softness and just a subtle glow in the highlights, this K&F 1/8 black diffusion filter works perfectly, especially when photographing women. It gives a subtle smoothing to skin tones without blurring any of the details, and a slight lowering of contrast where the shadows become slightly lighter.
If you're looking for that super smooth skin tone look (where you can't make out the skin's pores), and you want that dreamy glow/bloom in the highlights, you should choose the stronger back diffusion versions of this filter.
I have found the K&F brand to be a step above all of the medium to low-priced filters on the market today. I have several different K&F filters and have been happy with all of them. I especially like the knurling they incorporate into the ring and if you compare their packaging to other brands, you will see it's superior. The plastic boxes their filters come in are much higher quality and are easier to open and close than the cheaper brands.

I am not a professional photographer so my comments are based on an everyday person who just likes to take pictures. This is a nicely made filter with an aluminum frame and nice quality glass. This fit onto the end of my Canon lens perfectly.
In before and after pictures, I did notice a slight softening of the image that I could describe as a "misty look" when using this filter. Of course, depending on the lighting and the subject, it may be slightly more pronounced.
I do have a few K&F filters and I am pleased with the quality of all of their filters. Being an amateur photographer, I find that these filters provide me with opportunities to up my game.

K&M continues to deliver and be the inexpensive solution to the expensive Tiffen driven camera filter market. This is a nice alternative if you can't buy Tiffen or other top name brands but you don't want to sacrifice clarity. K&M filters continue to meet or surpass much more expensive filters at a third to half the price!
Let's face it. Lenses are expensive and buying top of the line filters for every lens you own is even more expensive. This lens provides a nice even subtle glow under the right lighting situations. I am looking forward to working with it more to test its clarity. I haven't used black mist filters before and this is a great place to start. My only caveat is that I believe K&M make a hybrid filter as well, that is it's a combination black mist and ND filter so you might want to skip this if a 2 in 1 might be more useful for you. Overall, highly recommended.
