The first photo was taken straight out of the box at ISO 3200, f/8.0, 1/60 second with flash. The lens produces clear, sharp RAW images (Nikon NEF) and shows little distortion. The second photo was taken through a layer of Plexiglas. The lens is good for portrait, landscape and macro. At 35mm f/2.0, it's fast enough and wide enough for underwater and astrophotography. When you capture RAW images, Adobe Lightroom doesn't recognize the lens, but it does profile it if you enter the information manually. This is a great addition to any photographer's kit. Being inexpensive is an added bonus.

It has a single flaw: the focus is a little noisy. For the rest it's a great target, pretty much on par with Nikkor's brother. Although this is plastic. For those who are interested I will explain briefly: I bought the set with the Nikon 5300 and the 35mm F 1.8. A year later for practicality I bought the 18-140 Always Nikkor. By the second year of life I dropped the 35mm, the case rendered it out of repair. Given the possibility of making the object, if it doesn't satisfy me, I tried this lens and compared some shots with the Nikkor and with it and I must say that on a FULL HD monitor there are no differences, not even on photographic paper. Brightness is identical and focus is great. It's just a little louder and made out of plastic. That may be for those who use fillet filters, it's good to know that the female is plastic and some care should be taken when screwing the filter together.

Let's get straight to the point that this is obviously a VERY commercial goal, bordering on gift, having said that I was pleasantly surprised by this. The construction is plastic but sturdy, when you hold it in your hand it looks like a toy (and therefore it weighs little and is very important for those who carry a lot of lenses), but... if you Once it's assembled, you'll find that the autofocus works quite well, the brightness is spectacular and there aren't any bad photos even at full aperture. The focal length is great as a full frame all rounder and perfect for portraits on APSC, the blur is nice and unless you're a pro you won't notice the difference to the Nikon which costs at least 4x. Once you've developed the photos, you'll notice that when it's wide open, it's a little soft, especially around the edges, but when you close it a few stops, it becomes a blade. In summary it is a real best buy, certainly not the best lens in the world but if you want to try the lens it will not disappoint and you might also find that you are selling the Nikon and using it for that keep less weight. I also have a 50mm older brother but in my opinion this one performs better.

Shooting this with a Nikon D700 FX camera has its ups and downs. Everything in the center of the frame is pretty sharp, even at low aperture. The corners are slightly distorted no matter what aperture you shoot with. There's no other lens in the price range that comes close to offering as much, especially on a full-frame camera, so it's still a good buy...

Camera lenses can be expensive, especially when they combine both their ability to be fast in terms of aperture and being a prime, but this one goes against the grain as it's fairly inexpensive for what it is. The lens is made by Yongnuo, a Chinese company that manufactures camera accessories. ====== Construction ====== The lens is a stubby lens, a similar size to a Nikon 50mm with only one focus ring and an auto/manual switch. There's no manual opening ring on this one, so it's pretty easy to set up. I wouldn't say it's as heavy as my other lenses, but it appears to be constructed of similar materials. The lens came in a box with plastic covers statically attached to each glass end so it was protected right up to my door which is a nice touch. ====== Usage ====== I use this lens on my D800 and I've had great results so far, having an F2.0 aperture can certainly help bring those slightly wider shots into depth of field. I've used the auto and manual focus features and found it to be responsive and accurate. I found the sharpness to be good — it's not as good as my Nikkon 50mm, but it's close enough for the effect I want. That's not to say the image isn't sharp, it's just not as razor sharp as I've seen from some other lenses. It will certainly bring some sharpening in post again. ====== Conclusion ====== This is a great lens for those who don't have the money to splash out on a Nikon branded lens, but the results are still good. I would recommend this to any photographer and I will buy from Yongnuo again.

The 5 stars are conditional: they account for the remarkably low price of the item. This lens is an incredible bargain. I was expecting a much more affordable build quality for this price point, and I knew what to expect in terms of optical quality. Very sharp in the center of wide open gaze, edges and corners quickly become sharp when you stop. There's no automatic manual focus setting, but the AF/MF switch is a nice touch. The build quality really feels almost on par with the Nikon 85mm 1.8G lens. I got this as a gift for my dad who shoots a Nikon D610 and D7000 and lately this lens has been used on his 610. He loves the 35mm focal length, and that's a much smaller, lighter package than his 17-35 2.8 or 24-70 2.8. The extra speed is nice too, considering the lack of stabilization.

So you won't find a cheaper 35mm that opens that wide. At least not new. At f2 it's fine, but a bit soft, as expected. It's not nearly as bad as you might imagine. The worst thing about this lens is the slow autofocus. It's really slow and very inaccurate, and it's definitely not something you should use for action situations. But... you take that for landscapes and take your time and expect to correct for the rather pronounced barrel distortion and you use manual focus... my word. This is exceptionally good quality for the money. I have sold photographs taken with this lens. And keep going. Try it. It's a great first prime and if you have a crop sensor closer to 50mm that's a bonus. Keep in mind it feels cheap and nasty and way too light. BUT... the metal bayonet connector is METAL! Try to buy a Nikon for the same price with a metal connection. Even my old 18-105mm Nikon, which cost a bit more, has a plastic mount. So you won't go wrong!

Let's start with the price: really negligible compared to any other lens with these characteristics. Perfect for those who are on a budget and don't need focus time with a semi-pro lens. In fact it's very slow with AF-C or subject tracking, but perfectly acceptable with AF-S or shooting static subjects or almost. For what it costs I have to say it's more than ok, it's a bit soft at f/2 but it has good clarity from f/2.8 so it's great for artistic photos too . I recommend this lens to anyone who wants to make a range of prime lenses without swooning. In fact, Yonguo also makes other prime lenses with different focal lengths, all of which represent a good compromise between price and performance. I also have a flash from the same manufacturer and I have to say it has never given me any problems. Among many, it is one of those companies that produces unpretentious photographic accessories, but they have good amateur characteristics and are absolutely reliable.

After a lot of bad reviews from forums I was a bit worried about this purchase. I've only shot it once, but I'm pretty happy so far! The focus is sensitive and a bit slow. Kind of loud. But overall very nice for the money! I look forward to pushing this lens to its limits and really seeing what I can get out of it and how long it will be used on my D3500.

The lens was good but there was dust on the lens when I got it? It looked like it was meant to be there as it was very thin and easy to remove maybe for protection but yeah I thought it was weird but as far as value for money goes it's great my Nikkor 50mm 1.8 e exchange for it
